Cooperating with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the Giant Bicycle company announced the voluntary safety recall of its 2012 Giant Defy Advanced for both men and women, in various models, colors and sizes in a recent press release. The reason behind the recall is that there is a possibility that the fork in the bicycles could crack, leading to falls and injuries for consumers. While no injuries have been reported, owners are encouraged to stop using these bikes immediately and contact the company for a free replacement part.
As a Harrisburg personal injury attorney, I’ve witnessed similar safety recalls in the past and I’m fully aware of the devastating injuries that can result from the use of defective products such as this. If you’ve suffered an injury through the normal use of a dangerous or defective product, it may be in your best interests to speak with an experienced personal injury lawyer in your area to learn more about your rights as a consumer and the legal options open to you.
