Pennsylvania State Police Release Crash Stats for 2014 Christmas Holiday Season
Between Wednesday, December 24th and Sunday, December 28th, there were 728 car accident cases reported to PA State Police. Eight deaths and 224 injuries were reported as a result. Every person who died was reportedly not wearing their seat belt at the time of the accident. Ninety eight were alcohol-related accidents, in which two people died.
Arrests and Citations
State Police made 327 arrests for DUI and issued 3,953 speeding tickets during the Holiday weekend. There were also 357 people cited for not wearing a seat belt, and 71 drivers cited for improperly restrained children, including those improperly restrained in child safety seats.
Last Year’s Statistics
The numbers are down a bit from last year, as Pennsylvania saw 900 car accidents reporting 255 injuries and the same number (8) of deaths.
