Personal Injury Blog

A tragic accident in Lebanon County occurred over the weekend that resulted in the death of a 26-year-old mother and her 3-year-old son. The accident happened in the intersection of Pennsylvania Route 164 and Mllerstown Road in North Woodbury Township, Blair County at around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, and was due to a vehicle’s failure to stop at a stop sign.

According to the Pennsylvania State police, Mariam A. Newswanger and her 3-year-old son were riding in a minivan that failed to stop at a stop sign while driving on Mllerstown Road. Unfortunately, the minivan was struck on the driver’s side by a pick up truck traveling east on Route 164, and Newswanger and her son were killed on impact.

Although there is no information about what caused the driver of the minivan to miss the stop sign, the driver and remaining passengers were taken to UPMC Altoona with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup truck, 41-year-old Richard D. Nicodemus of Martinsburg, suffered minor injuries in the crash. We cannot imagine the grief and difficulty he and all those affected by the Lebanon PA car accident are experiencing.
