Britax, a child safety seat producer, is recalling several Chaperon seat models produced from April 2009 through May 2010. The chest clip used to restrain children in the seat may fail when engaged, resulting in possible lacerations and a potential choking hazard. Replacement parts will be mailed by Britax with replacement instructions to consumers. More information is available by calling Britax customer service at 1-888-427-4829 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hotline at 1-888-327-4236, according to news reports. Kits will be mailed to customers which will resolve problem by fixing the unsafe car seats. The safety campaign for this product officially begins in November.
