Thomas Lighting, a subsidiary of Phillips Consumer Luminaries Corporation, has recalled 28 models of ceiling flush-mounted light fixtures. While the different models vary in colors, finishes, and similar features they all have a round base or canopy affixed to the ceiling and a dome or cylinder-shaped cover. When the insulation in the fixture frays it can cause a short or electrify the metal base creating both a safety and fire hazard. Do not touch or try to remove the fixture yourself. Contact the company which will hire a free in home repair by a qualified electrician, according to news reports.
