News sources reported that Dancing Teapots have been voluntarily recalled by Ganz USA, LLC, of Cheektowaga, NY, in cooperation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The reason for the recall is that these teapots have an increased risk of burn hazard due to their handle becoming too hot when there is hot water inside the teapot. More than 2,200 teapots are affected by this recall and no injuries have been reported in connection to these Dancing Teapots. The teapots were available at tea and coffee specialty shops, gift and drug stores, kitchen supply stores, hospital gift shops and various other retail stores across the country from December 2011 through January 2012. Use of the recalled teapots should be stopped immediately and consumers should contact the company for a full refund.
As a Harrisburg personal injury lawyer, I’ve seen this sort of safety recall many times in the past and understand the tragic injuries that are possible if consumers were to continue using these kinds of defective products. Manufacturers have a lot of safety measures in place to ensure the quality of their products, but occasionally mistakes are made. If you’ve been injured through the normal use of a defective product, consult an experienced personal injury lawyer to discuss your legal rights as a consumer.
