In a press release, the Ford Motor Company, in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), announced they are recalling their Escape model vehicles that were manufactured between 1999 and 2002 because of faulty brake master cylinder reservoir caps. The defect may result in brake fluid leaks that could potentially cause corrosion, smoke, and even engine compartment fires. Ford will be notifying owners and replacing these parts as soon as possible; although it is not certain that the parts will be available, since the company estimates that more than 240,000 cars could be potentially affected.
As a Lancaster personal injury attorney, I feel it is essential to keep a close watch on the news from agencies like the NHTSA to help in spreading information that could potentially help consumers avoid injury. Throughout my time as a personal injury lawyer, I’ve come to understand the problems and issues that manufacturers face when developing quality products for their customers, and I urge everyone to closely follow the instructions provided by Ford and the NHTSA to ensure the safety of everyone on the road.
