According to news sources, Kelty Single and Double Jogging Strollers have been recalled voluntarily by American Recreation Products, in cooperation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The reason for the recall is an increased risk to children in the stroller and adults pushing the stroller, due to a front wheel that has the potential to come loose during use. Three incidents have already been reported to the firm concerning the defective wheel. Adults have suffered cuts, scrapes and broken bones through the use of these strollers while children have only sustained minor cuts and scrapes. This recall affects roughly 3,000 jogging strollers that were available from January 2010 until February 2012. Use of the recalled strollers should be stopped immediately and consumers should contact the importer for free maintenance services.
As a Harrisburg personal injury attorney, I’ve seen this kind of safety recall many times in the past and understand the serious injuries that can result from the use of defective products. Manufacturers do many things to ensure the quality and safety of their products, however mistakes can still occasionally be made. If you or your child has sustained an injury through the use of a defective or poorly designed product, it may be in your best interests to speak with an experienced personal injury lawyer in your area to learn more about your legal rights as a consumer and the possible legal options open to you.
