In a press release, Nissan North America Inc, in cooperation and in accordance with the standards and guidelines of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), announced the recall of Nissan Altima and Nissan Versa, model 2012 vehicles because of their side curtain air bag, which contains an incorrect propellant mixture of component. The side curtain air bag may not deploy, due to the insufficient output of the compressed gas, increasing the risk of injury to the occupants during a crash. Nissan, the manufacturer, is in the process of notifying owners and dealers that they will replace one or both side curtain air bag modules, free of cost. The owners are encouraged contact Nissan to set up an inspection.
