Hernia mesh defects
have been found by the FDA -
A Class 1 recall has been issued
for the Bard Composix Kugel Mesh
X-Large Patch for possible bowel
lacerations. In addition several
polypropylene hernia patches have
been recalled for links to sterility
in males.
If you or someone you
love has had a hernia operation
where a polypropylene hernia patch or a Bard Composix Kugel
Mesh X-Large Patch and has been used and they have developed
sterility or have had to have
corrective surgery for
problem or complications,
call the Law Offices of Handler,
Henning & Rosenberg, LLP to discuss
the merits of your hernia mesh
complications.
Hernia Mesh Defect in Ring Causes Bowel
Perforations
The "memory recoil ring" that opens the Composix Kugel Mesh Patch after it has been inserted into the intra-abdominal space can break. This can lead to bowel perforations and/or chronic intestinal fistulae (abnormal connections or passageways between the intestines and other organs).
The Composix Kugel Mesh Patch was
voluntarily recalled in December 2005.
If you have had hernia surgery during or
before this time period and are unsure
if the Composix Kugel Mesh Patch was
used, consult your physician and then
call our firm to get you the help you deserve.

& Rosenberg, LLP right now at

love has had a hernia operation where a polypropylene mesh or the Composix Kugel Mesh Patch
was used that resulted in medical complications
or death.
Polypropylene
Hernia Mesh Defect - links to Sterility
Eight institutions in the United States reported a total of 14 cases of
reproductive obstruction related to a previously
repaired hernia where the use of a polypropylene mesh
was present.
Polypropylene mesh is
used in an estimated 80% of inguinal hernia
operations. The hernia surgery repair procedure
involves placement of a knitted
polypropylene mesh to form a "tension-free" herniorrhaphy.
The problem is that the prosthetic mesh causes an
adverse reaction by the body to which the
response is to create scar tissue that can
lead to blockage of the reproductive
channels in male patients.
If
you or someone you love has had
polypropylene mesh used to repair their hernia, call the Law Offices of Handler, Henning & Rosenberg, LLP.

Fertility Reconstruction After
Hernia Malpractice
Reconstruction to restore fertility
can be difficult after scar tissue
has built up. Before undergoing
polypropylene mesh surgery,
men, especially of young
reproductive age need to be
carefully advised of potential
obstruction and compromise to future
fertility.
