PennDOT made the announcement today that a $1.8 million state investment of federal funds will be put towards the Click It or Ticket campaign which cracks down on drivers not wearing a seat belt. 600 police departments and the Pennsylvania State Police will enforce the campaign November 18 to December 4th. The Traffic Enforcement Zones will also be utilized. This targets enforcement on roads with high crash rates involving motorists who don’t buckle up. Nighttime enforcement will also be increased, since those vehicle occupants are the least likely to use a seat bet and the most likely to die in a wreck. According to news reports, 524 unbelted highway fatalities occurred in Pennsylvania last year. 75% of those killed in a nighttime crash were not using a seat belt.
As a Carlisle auto accident attorney, I hope that nobody else was harmed in this crash. My thoughts are with those who were harmed. If you or a loved one were hurt in an auto accident, discuss your case with a personal injury attorney who can evaluate your claim, assess your case, help defend your rights, and answer any legal questions you have concerning your case. A personal injury lawyer can help guide you through the legal processes associated with your case in order to help ensure the best possible outcome.
