In a news release, Crossroads RV, in cooperation with and in accordance with the guidelines of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), announced the recall of certain Rushmore and Elevation recreation vehicles, starting in February, 2012. Vehicles fitted with Panther style 16″, 8-lug aluminum wheels and vehicles that were manufactured from June 1, 2011 through January 12, 2012 are affected by this recall. Manufacturing defects with the wheel center cap that could result in wheel separation are being cited as the reason for this recall. Wheel separation poses a significant crash hazard to motorists, as well as a safety hazard to nearby pedestrians. The company is in the process of notifying owners of the defect and will replace the center caps free of charge.
As a York personal injury attorney, I’ve seen similar safety recalls for defective auto products in the past and understand the difficulties that companies face when trying to produce quality products for their customers. I’ve also seen the tragic injuries that can result from the use of a defect auto part and the impact it can have on consumers. If you’ve sustained an injury in an accident that you believe was the result of a defective or poorly designed auto product, consider speaking with a personal injury lawyer experienced in these matters in your town.
