In a press statement, Christmas Tree Shops, in conjunction with and in compliance with the standards and regulations of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced the voluntary safety recall of Farm Glass & Metal Spiral Tea Light Holders due to a fire hazard the products pose to consumers.
This recall affects approximately 6,200 Farm Glass & Metal Spiral Tea Light Holders that were available exclusively through Christmas Tree Shops in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions of the country from July 2011 through March 2012. The tea light holders are painted glass with a spiraled metal insert to hold tea lights. They can be identified by their SKU/UPC code 000015931955 on a label on the glass’ underside. The recall was set into motion when the company discovered that, because of the holders’ design, the tea lights are able to burn with a high flame, increasing the risk of a fire to consumers. The company has received a single report of a tea light burning with a high flame that burned a consumer’s hand.
Consumers are being instructed to stop using these tea light holders at once and to return them to any Christmas Tree Shop location to receive a full refund.
As a Harrisburg personal injury attorney, I’ve witnessed this kind of safety recall before and understand the devastating injuries that can result from the use of the defective product. If you’ve suffered an injury through the normal use of a poorly designed or defective product, it could be in your best interests to talk to a York personal injury lawyer to learn more about your legal rights as a consumer.
