Chronic Sinkhole in Palmyra Finally Getting Addressed

Personal Injury Blog

There has been an ongoing problem in Palmyra for several years in the form of a recurring sinkhole on East Maple Street. Every year, the area is excavated, aggravating traffic on Route 422 between Harrisburg and Lebanon. Hopefully, that problem is soon to be remedied permanently.

What’s Causing the Sinkhole?

A local geologist teamed with an engineer to determine what they suspect is causing the sinkhole, that being an injection well. They suspect the well is injecting water too close to the surface, possibly increasing erosion.

So, How Do We Fix The Sinkhole?

The two presented a proposal to move the injection well deeper, more in line with the water level, away from the surface. Hopefully, the injection well is the issue and that will fix this persistent problem.
