At the law firm of Hander, Henning & Rosenberg, we regularly handle personal injury cases arising out of Pennsylvania accidents. However, as members of our surrounding communities, we are also tuned into to the dangers of injury inherent in the operation of the many farms in rural Pennsylvania. Recently, two separate fatal farm accidents occurred in Lancaster County, PA.
In the first incident, a 5-year-old boy was run over by a piece of heavy farm equipment near a home in the 100 block of Brick Mill Road near Noble Road in Sadsbury Township near the Chester County line. The boy died at the scene from traumatic injuries sustained in the accident with farm equipment. The incident is still under investigation, and more is not yet known.
In the second unrelated incident just a day later, an 89-year-old man was hit and killed by a truck on a farm off Champ Boulevard in East Hempfield around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. According to police, Weidler Grube was watching the corn and grain harvesting when the 21-year-old driver of the truck, Travis Weaver, hit and killed him. Police are also still investigating this accident.
